3 Cruelty-free Drugstore Lip Liners You Need to Try

This post is not sponsored, nor is my opinion bought or paid for, so don’t get it twisted.

These are my favorite drugstore lip liners, tested by a consumer who knows what she wants from a lip product. My recommendations will leave your lips smooth and your lipstick protected during your busy day. Here are three cruelty-free lip liners I love that won’t break the bank.

8H Matte Comfort Lipliner

Essence

Price: $3.99

Available in eight long-lasting shades, this twist-up pencil holds up well. The lightweight formula glides on effortlessly. It remains comfortable all day, offering a weightless feel. It does have a subtle perfume scent that’s reminiscent of grandma. I’m not a huge fan of scented products (I’m weary of candles, but I didn’t find the smell overpowering. The 8H Matte Comfort Lipliner is drink-proof but will budge against oily food.

NYX Cosmetics

Price: $5

This lip liner comes in 15 creamy shades with an impressive color payoff. The NYX Retractable Lip Liner comes in a soft formula that makes precise application slightly less plausible, but the easy-to-apply formula more than makes up for it. Even the Dark Red, a full-coverage burgundy color, doesn’t bleed or feather on the lips. Eating and drinking will cause the color to fade, but your lips won’t be left bare after a yummy Hot pot. This lip liner is not transfer proof.

Retractable Long-Lasting Mechanical Lip Liner

Lip Pencil

Mented Cosmetics

Price: $12

The Mented Lip Pencil isn’t one to sleep on. It subtly defines the lips while maintaining a natural appearance. It glides onto the lips to form an opaque base with a buttery texture for your lip product of choice. It has a long-lasting matte finish that doesn’t look or feel dry. This liner can be worn comfortably throughout the day without needing constant touch-ups. It comes in nine flattering shades for anyone who loves brown and pinkish lip liner, but I wish the brand offered red and purple shades.
